I absolutely love having a dedicated space at the front of home, which is why I also love a foyer or entry way. This foyer in my home is one of the reasons why I brought this home. It’s one of my favorite spaces in a home to decorate because it sets the tone for the rest of the home. This room in the home is also important for energy and how it can be stagnated or allow for flow.
The best part of this area is that my family uses it as an actual room because we sit and have conversation here and enjoy each others time.
With that said, it has been a difficult place to be in for the past year because it has been unfinished and incomplete. When we moved in, we wasted no time and went to work pulling the carpet up off the stairs. Before I decided to do this, I had be researching the process and discovered that I could be either pleasantly surprised with what I would find or not so thrilled with the work that may need to be done or the how much it would cost to repair the damage.
I’ll go into more of the later, but for now this upholstered bench is part of the makeover I am doing to heal my entryway and staircase which is apart of bigger picture to HEAL MY HOME.
In this blog I will share with you how you can create this in your own home whether it is for a foyer or anywhere else in the home. I have had this bench for 5 years now and initially used it as seating for dining room which I loved and in my previous home in a small foyer which I loved as well.
This time I have decided to change the fabric and color to give my space a warmer feel and contrast with the rest of the space as well as wanting to use a darker color to hide wear and tear as I’ve mentioned that we use it quit often. So let’s start with what you will need.
- Your choice of fabric for the bench
- Fabric scissors
- Pins
- Sewing needles or sewing glue or sewing tape
- Measuring tape
- Iron and Ironing board (or a hard surface for ironing
